N1 Enhancements Scheme

New type approval requirements coming into effect at the end of April 2013 will affect the way some light commercial vehicles are registered.

In summary, modifications made to light commercial vehicles prior to registration may invalidate the vehicle's European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA) and it may not be possible to use the vehicle's ECWVTA Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for registration purposes. If this is the case, each affected vehicle may have to be assessed through an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) inspection. The forthcoming legislative changes will affect N1 Light Commercial Vehicles, these are light commercial vehicles up to and including 3500 kg gross vehicle weights (GVW).
